WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is facing a new challenge as he struggles with his mother's desirefor him to retire now after promising her one last fight following his bout with Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto.

Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao is struggling with his Mom's wish for him to consider retiring now and not months or years later. After his fight with Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico, Pacquiao made a deal with Mommy Dionisia to retire after one more fight.

With a heavy heart his Mom reluctantly gave her consent. That deal ended when Pacquiao fought Joshua Clottey last March 13 at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington Texas. Mommy Dionisia said she is constantly worried about her son each time he climbs in the ring, especially because his past few fights were against bigger opponents.

Pacquiao said he understands Mommy Dionisia’s concern for his safety in the ring. Upon his return to Manila after beating Joshua Clottey in a unanimous 12-round decision, Pacquiao hinted at retiring anytime soon. Pacquiao has openly declared his desire to face undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather not because the match promises to be the most lucrative in his entire boxing career but winning the fight will cement his place in boxing history.

Then again, Pacquiao struggles with his own commitment to his Mom. He said he promised his Mom for one last fight and she consented albeit reluctantly and now, 'How can I get her to agree this time? What will I say to her? he asked.

Pacquiao clarified that politics has nothing to do with his retirement plans. He said he will confer with his family shortly to handle the matter.
